Ultrasonic Thickness Gauges
Ultrasonic thickness gauges are particularly useful for non-destructive measurement of wall thickness where access is only possible from one side of the test object, for example pipes, tanks, boat hulls, and structural box sections. Most common engineering materials, for example metals plastics and glass, can be measured ultrasonically. The DMV UK range of ultrasonic thickness testers enable fast and accurate UTG wall thickness testing with options available to cover many different applications.

The MT Multi-Mode series ultrasonic thickness gauges can switch between pulse-echo and echo-echo modes to eliminate paint / coating thickness. All gauges have data memory, scan mode & adjustable velocity. The MT600 also has colour LCD and diff mode.
The MX / MMX series Dakota Ultrasonics thickness gauges are some of the toughest in the world and are backed by a 5 year limited warranty. Complete kit supplied including transducer & calibration certificate.
Featuring auto probe zero, auto probe recognition, auto temperature compensation, the CMX will simultaneously measure the material and coating thickness ! The CMX DL+ has A/B Scan & available with grayscale or AMOLED colour display.
Precision gauge for thin material applications (0.15 - 25.4mm). Scan mode (scan area), alarm mode (audible & visual), differential mode. Kit includes probe, couplant, carrying case & NIST Calibration Certificate. DL includes software & cable.
Triple Echo ignores coatings with no zeroing required. Coating Plus+ measures through coatings up to 20 mm thick. Intelligent Probe Recognition automatically matches probe and gauge. 3 year warranty. Free calibration for the life of the gauge.
The Multigauge 5300 GRP is ultrasonic thickness gauge is designed to check the condition of Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) or Engineering Plastics, and can also be used on uncoated metals. 3 year warranty and free calibration certificate.
The Sauter TN series ultrasonic thickness gauges feature a large data memory and scan mode. The TN EE models have additional features including 2 measurement modes : pulse-echo and echo-echo to eliminate the need to remove coatings. Optional software.
ULTRASONIC THICKNESS MEASUREMENT GUIDE Ultrasonic thickness testers are available for measuring most common engineering materials. They work by measuring the time interval between the excitation pulse that generates the sound wave and the first returning echo. The material wall thickness is derived from the relationship between the time of flight of the ultrasonic pulse and the velocity of the sound in the material. The ability to measure components where access is limited to one side only gives ultrasonic thickness gauges a distinct advantage over other methods and allows measurement of pipes, vessels and box sections etc. For basic applications where only one material type is being tested, a simple fixed velocity gauge with a numerical display can be used. For more demanding applications, there are advanced gauges which enable measurement of very thin materials, cast materials, composites, measurement through paint coatings and detection of flaws etc. These advanced instruments have features such as such as A and B scan displays, data loggers, through paint mode, scan and alarm modes.
